January 2019 Wrap Up

january 2019 wrap up

January was a great month for quality reading! I read five books this month, and really enjoyed most of them! Read on to see a little bit about what I thought of these books!

THEY BOTH DIE AT THE END BY ADAM SILVERA

This was my first Adam Silvera book, and I loved it! It was tragic and humorous, and I read it rather quickly. I never wanted to put it down. I own two other Adam Silvera books, and now I’m dying to read them and pick up the one that I’m missing! This book is about a world where you get a phone call on the day of your death, letting you know you’re going to die that day. You don’t know when or how, just that it’s happening that day. Mateo and Rufus end up finding each other on the Last Friends app and spend their last day together. This book really took my breath away, especially in the end.

THE CABIN AT THE END OF THE WORLD BY PAUL TREMBLAY

This was the most anxiety inducing book I have ever read. This one has been on my radar since I first saw it mentioned on Instagram around it’s release, and when I received it for Christmas, I knew I had to fit it into my TBR ASAP. This one is about a gay couple and their adopted daughter, Wen, staying in an isolated cabin in the woods when four strangers with weapons show up at the door claiming that they’re the only ones who can prevent the end of the world. It was a wild ride, and definitely not for everyone (it’s incredibly violent and can be pretty upsetting), but if horror is your thing, definitely give this book a shot.

FAMOUS IN A SMALL TOWN BY EMMA MILLS

My first Emma Mills book! Since finishing this one, I ran out and bought another one of her books from Book Outlet that I am so excited to read. I can only hope it’s as good as this one. This book was adorable and so funny, I enjoyed every second of reading it. You can read my full review here.

ENCHANTEE BY GITA TRELEASE

Ooh boy, this book. I was incredibly intimidated to pick up this book because of it’s size and my usual disinterest in historical fiction, but I’m so glad I did. I’m going to save my thoughts for my book tour post at the end of this month, but I have to say I really enjoyed it. This book is about a girl who works magic in order to provide for her and her sister – but there are consequences.

CAMPFIRE BY SHAWN SARLES

Okay, I am absolutely posting a review for this book in the coming days. I had a very hard time with this book and have a lot to say about it that I’m going to save for the review. Overall, I did not enjoy this at all. There was only one part that saved it from being a one star book. This book is about a girl who goes on a camping trip with her family and family friends, when strange, violent things start to happen to them.

★★

That was my wrap up for January! Like I said, a pretty good reading month as far as quality goes! I would have liked to have read more, but I’m happy with what I did read and I’m looking forward to February!
