Second Star Books February 2019 – Book Box Review

I signed up for a one-time Second Star Books box this month because of the book and theme. You’ll see what it is soon, but it’s something I read an arc of that I absolutely adored, and I wanted all the fun goodies relating to that book! Honestly, Second Star is really the perfect book box for my tastes. Every  month, it only comes with the things I care about – a book, a pin, a bookmark, and a large candle. My favorites!

This is February 2019’s box – Love. Magic. Revolution.

The Candle

 

The candle for the month is called Let Them Eat Cake, and the scent notes are sugar cane, vanilla, and coconut milk. It is a 6 ounce soy wax candle in a tin with a wood wick. Now, I am candle obsessed, so I can be picky with my candles. However, I love this one. It smells DELICIOUS. I don’t even want to burn it because it’s so beautiful, but it smells so good I want my whole house to smell like it! Difficult decisions. The final verdict is, this is an awesome candle and I’m so excited to have it.

 

The Bookmark

The bookmark this month is a wood mark. It has watercolor hot air balloons on one side, and a quote on the other. The quote says, “Remember – magic is a cheater’s game, and everyone who sees it wants to play.” The bookmark is absolutely beautiful. My only complaint with it is that the words are incredibly faded on mine.

 

The Pin

The pin this month is a beautiful glittery blue hot air balloon with gold accents. Or is it gold with blue accents? Either way, it’s gorgeous. There was some trouble with the pins this month – Second Star began working with a different company for the pins, and when they received them, most had flaws. In order to make it up for those who received flawed pins, they included an extra gift in the box. Mine was one of the flawed pins, however it still looks amazing. I can barely even tell anything was wrong with it. I appreciate Second Star for being fully transparent during this issue and going out of their way to make it up to those who received flawed pins.

 

The Extra

 

The extra item I received was this small air freshener. It pretty much looks and seems like a stronger candle without a wick. It is 1.7 ounces in a small tin. There are no scent notes listed, but to me it smells like cinnamon. It’s a really lovely scent and I can’t wait to use it in my car! I believe everyone received a different freebie, so I can only speak for what I received, but I’m very happy with it.

 

The Book

The book this month was Enchanteé by Gita Trelease! This book is all about love and magic in historical Paris. The book itself is absolutely beautiful. The cover is gorgeous, and there’s a beautiful map of Paris on the end pages. This is a standard US edition, and it is not signed. Considering I already own 4 different copies of this book (we’ll talk about that later), I’m considering doing a giveaway for this one. Let me know if you would be interested in that!

 

Final Verdict

Here is the full box. My final verdict is that this was a fantastic box! I fully intend to subscribe to Second Star and bring you more reviews each month of this amazing box. I have nothing but excellent things to say about the quality of the contents of the box, as well as the owners of the box. It was a wonderful experience and I cannot wait to receive more Second Star boxes in the future.
