Mimic
C.L. Denault
(The Prodigy Chronicles #2)
Publication date: March 22nd 2019
Genres: Dystopian, Romance, Science Fiction, Young Adult

In 2012, one cycle of an ancient calendar system came to a close. Humanity predicted its downfall, but it wasn’t the end of their evolutionary climb. It was the beginning.

Willow Kent is discovering that life as a second-phase prodigy comes at a price. Trapped in the London Core, her choices are limited, made difficult by her forbidden romance with Reece and the presence of a new commanding officer who establishes harsh rules. With unpredictable skills and a growing distrust in her birth parents, she is struggling to play the Core’s game. But when opportunity arises in the form of a mysterious shapeshifter, Willow realizes there’s more to her own evolution than meets the eye. She soon learns that keeping secrets is a key move, and the more dangerous they are, the greater her need to evolve into the powerful prodigy nature intended her to become.

But those closest to her have their own secrets, and her status has made her an easy target for betrayal. Who will she turn to, when nothing is as it seems?

Reading My Top 5 Highest and Lowest Rated Books – Intro

reading top 5s pic.JPG

I’m so excited to be bringing you this series. I was inspired by Kayla over at BooksandLala, who came up with this idea for a video recently! I thought it sounded like a lot of fun, so I decided to bring it to you guys on the blog. I hope you enjoy watching me figure out whether my opinions align with the general consensus or not – maybe I’ll love 10 books, maybe I’ll love half and hate half, maybe I won’t enjoy any of them. Stay tuned to find out!

I followed Kayla’s guidelines – the book has to have been out for at least 4 months. I made a shelf of all books I own and haven’t read, and sorted them by rating. There will be two follow up posts – one for the top 5 highest rated, and one for the top 5 lowest rated. So – here’s what I’m going to be reading!

Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff – Book Review

illuminaeIf you know me at all, you know there are two book series that I’m obsessed with like nothing else: An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir, and Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff.

Seriously, I never shut up about them.

I’m a huge sci fi nerd. I love all things involving space – I find it to be the most fascinating subject to read about. It’s my passion.

When I saw one of the criteria for Book Battle this month was to read the last book in a series, I knew it was the perfect time to sit down and reread one of my favorite series of all time.
